Drowning in boxes!

I can’t believe it has been a month since I last wrote in my blog. We have been really busy making t-shirts and getting ready for the London, Earls Court Baby Show next month. It feels at the moment as if we are drowning in a sea of boxes; our winter collection has arrived! We have now added Rugby shirts, Long sleeve Polo shirts and Hoodies to the range they are really cute – but it is amazing how much space these little clothes take up!
I’m really looking forward the Baby Show it is so much fun, hard work but great to meet the people that are buying our clothes.

Have you heard about the banks finally making bank transfer faster? It’s about time; I’ve always wondered where the money disappears to when it’s left your account but not yet in the receiving account. We have just introduced Bank Transfer as a payment method on our site; it will be interesting to see how much it is used. In Holland, the first simply colors website, nearly all the customers pay via bank transfer but their system is great, mostly the transfer is complete in a couple of hours the longest time is 24 hours!

Here are some of the cute slogans that we have had in the last few weeks:

This one was for a newborn; it had the baby’s full name on the front and the date, time and weight at birth on the back of a short sleeve body – a real keepsake.

‘cuddle munchkin’ on the front ‘mummy & daddy’s little tike’ on the back

‘Charlie’ ‘city fan’

‘I’m a big sister’ on the front with the child’s name on the back

‘I’m a baby sister’ on the front with the child’s name on the back

‘I’m cool like my Granda’

‘Brighton Festival Babe’ ‘Lets Party’

I really like the big sister/baby sister ones, they look really good when the little T-shirt is light pink with neon pink text and the older T-shirt is pink with light pink text – they look really cute.

I would love to hear any slogans that you have seen or thought of, post them on the blog for all to see!

Baby Show Birmingham

Here is our stand at the NEC Birmingham Baby Show in May, the first one is of us franticly getting ready before the show opened, the second is of one of the rare quieter moments. It really was great fun, we made the personalised t-shirts to order at the show. There were times when we had customer’s queuing to order and queuing to collect their personalised clothes, it was so busy at times you couldn’t see the stand for the number of people!

It was exciting to see lots of Mum and Dad's to be ordering little T-shirts with slogans like:
50% Susan
50% Jason
100% ME!
We even had one where they added the babies name on!

We made quite a few for the older brother or sister and for those of you who like 'cat in the hat' 'Thing 1' and 'Thing 2' were ordered for twins!

I really couldn't have done it without the help and hard work from my family and friends - a BIG thank you to them all! I'm now planning the Earls Court Baby Show, if you are visiting pop by our stand B36 and say hello!

I'm off to make some more t-shirts before I pick my toddler Oliver up from Nursery.

How it all started!

Simply Colors started for me with Oliver’s 1st Birthday. A gift arrived in a brightly coloured box with the name ‘Simply Colors’ on, I had no idea what it was or what it meant for the future! It was sent by Oliver’s Auntie Nic who lives in Spain. When he eventually managed to open the box we saw that the gift was an aqua blue hoodie with ‘soy el major!!’ written in orange and an orange t-shirt with ‘lo sè, lo dice mi tía!’ written in blue – now I was really confused, my Spanish isn’t great.... an e-mail arrived from Auntie Nic which explained what it meant, “I’m the best!!“ on the hoodie and “I know because my Auntie says so!” on the t-shirt. It was such a lovely personalised gift, and looked really good, even now after 9 months they are still in perfect condition & Oliver still wears them regularly – they were a little big when they arrived! I really liked the clothes and in one of the rare moments you get as a Mum, I searched for Simply Colors on the internet as I wanted to buy some personalised clothes for a friend whose baby was due.

I found Simply Colors sites all over the world; USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Sweden, France, Belgium, to name but a few but they were not in the UK. I was really surprised so I sent an e-mail to the parent company in Holland in December 07. From there on in it was a bit of a rollercoaster, I went to visit them in February 08 and launched Simply Colors UK at the Birmingham Baby Show in May. It has been such a whirl wind and great fun; although I must admit sometimes a little stressful especially in the run up to the Baby Show as I had never done anything like that before. I had all my family helping –Jon, my husband and my brother Oliver were on the stand along with my friends Michelle and Jodie. Grandpa and Grandma looked after baby Oliver for 4 days while we were away in Birmingham, they coped really well – it was the first time they had looked after my electrically charged son!

It was a great show for us; we were so busy my friends were great especially since there was no time for lunch or toilet stops! We will soon be getting ready for our next Baby Show at Earls Court, I’m really excited about it. I will post a picture of our stand at the Baby Show, but I need to go now as we are in day 3 of no nappies for Oliver he is doing really well, only one accident today!

If you have any good and/or funny slogans for children I’d love you to the post them and if there is anything you would like to see on our site please let me know.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Keeley
